What Lymphatic Drainage Massage Actually Is
Lymphatic drainage massage is a specialized technique that accelerates the natural removal of excess fluid from your body through the lymphatic system. Unlike Thai or deep tissue massage, it is not about working into the muscles — it is precise work with a system that sits 1–3 millimetres under the skin.
At Namm Massage we follow the international Manual Lymphatic Drainage protocol — the standard taught at certified spa schools worldwide. Light, rhythmic pumping at the main lymph node clusters, "call and return" strokes along the lymphatic flow lines, finishing effleurage. The session feels calm, slow, almost meditative.
The result is subtle but real. Legs feel less heavy. The face looks fresher. The body feels rested. Most guests describe a sense of lightness that stays for days.
What It Is Not
Many guests arrive expecting pain, deep finger-pressing, or strong manual work — built from places that called their service "lymphatic drainage" but performed something else entirely. Real lymphatic drainage massage is never painful, never deep, never about pressing hard with fingertips.
The lymphatic system sits very close to the skin surface. Deep pressure compresses the vessels instead of stimulating them — it actually slows lymph flow. If your previous "lymphatic massage" hurt, it most likely was not lymphatic drainage at all.
This massage is also not a slimming treatment. It reduces excess fluid, not body fat. For body shaping we offer dedicated Anti-Cellulite Massage instead — and lymphatic drainage is the perfect preparation phase before starting a contouring program.

How a Session Unfolds — Step by Step
Every session begins with a quiet consultation. We ask what brought you in — flight recovery, cycle bloating, contouring prep — so the protocol adapts to your need. You'll be guided to your private treatment room. Fresh linen, soft light, no rushing.
Stage 1 — Pumping at the main lymph nodes. Your therapist begins with soft, rhythmic pumping movements over the main clusters of lymph nodes, in this specific order: subclavian, supraclavicular, axillary (armpit), the deep abdominal lymph trunk, inguinal (groin), and popliteal (behind the knee). These are not muscle pressures — they are gentle compressions that "wake up" the lymphatic system and set the direction of flow.
Stage 2 — Call & Return strokes. Following the international Manual Lymphatic Drainage protocol, your therapist applies "call" strokes (toward the nearest node cluster) and "return" strokes (back along the same path). Pressure stays minimal — just enough to gently move the superficial layer where lymphatic vessels live.
Stage 3 — Finishing effleurage. The session closes with smooth, sweeping strokes along the lymphatic pathways — final guidance for the fluid that has been mobilized. By this stage you usually feel a distinct lightness and warmth.
Afterward, you'll be offered hot Thai herbal tea and cold water. We'll share simple aftercare tips — what to drink, how to extend the effect.

No. Real lymphatic drainage massage is never painful. The lymphatic system sits 1–3 millimetres under the skin, so deep pressure or finger-pressing is not only unnecessary — it can actually push fluid in the wrong direction. At Namm Massage we follow the international Manual Lymphatic Drainage protocol: very gentle pumping movements over the main lymph node clusters. If your previous lymphatic massage hurt, it most likely was not lymphatic drainage at all.
Lymphatic drainage uses light, rhythmic strokes that follow the body's natural flow lines. Unlike Thai or oil massage which works deep into muscles, lymphatic drainage is intentionally gentle. Sessions feel calm and meditative. Results show as lighter limbs, reduced puffiness, and an overall sense of body lightness.
One session shows visible reduction in puffiness within hours. For occasional needs — flight recovery, post-cycle bloating, a refresh before an event — a single session is enough. For body contouring preparation or sustained results, a course of 6 to 10 sessions over a few weeks delivers more lasting change.
Most guests describe a sense of lightness and calm. Legs feel less heavy, the face looks fresher, the body feels rested. The effect is subtle but real — and noticeable within hours. Drink plenty of water afterward to amplify the result.
Drink water before and after. Avoid heavy meals 2 hours before. Wear comfortable clothing. Arrive 10 minutes early for a brief consultation. Plan to drink extra water for 24 hours after the session to support the effect.
60 minutes — for one specific area (post-flight legs, face puffiness). 90 minutes — full-body flow, the most popular choice for general lightness or refresh. 120 minutes — extended protocol for chronic puffiness or as preparation phase before starting a body contouring program. When in doubt, message us via WhatsApp.
Walk-ins are welcome. However, we recommend booking via WhatsApp at least a few hours ahead to guarantee your preferred time. During peak season and weekends, advance booking is strongly recommended.
