What This Massage Does

Anticellulite massage is an intensive manual technique focused on the areas where cellulite typically develops — thighs, buttocks, hips, and abdomen. The work targets the subcutaneous tissue layer between the skin and the underlying muscle, using deep kneading, skin rolling, and sustained pressure to improve local circulation and mobilize the connective tissue.

Cellulite is a structural condition: fat deposits push through the connective tissue (fascia) beneath the skin, creating the characteristic dimpled texture. It affects an estimated 80–90% of post-pubertal women regardless of body weight — it is not a disease or a sign of being overweight. Genetics, hormones, and connective tissue structure are the primary factors.

What manual massage can do is improve local blood and lymph circulation, temporarily improve tissue texture, and reduce fluid retention in the affected areas. A course of regular sessions produces more visible and longer-lasting results than a single visit. We recommend combining anticellulite massage with Lymphatic Drainage Massage as a preparation phase for best results.

What It Is Not

We need to be direct: no massage permanently eliminates cellulite. Any provider claiming otherwise is misleading you. Cellulite is a structural feature of how female connective tissue is organized — massage cannot change the architecture of your fascia. What it can do is improve circulation, reduce fluid retention, and temporarily improve the texture and appearance of the skin in the treated areas.

At Namm we do not use machines, vacuum cups, rollers, or any devices. The entire session is performed by hand. We also do not slap, hit, or use percussive techniques — these are common in low-quality anticellulite massage but have no therapeutic justification and can cause bruising and capillary damage.

The work is intensive and deep — you will feel it — but it is controlled manual technique: kneading, rolling, sustained pressure. Properly performed, it should not leave bruises. If your previous anticellulite massage left you bruised, the technique was too aggressive.

  • 01

    Improved Local Circulation

Deep kneading and skin rolling increase blood flow to the subcutaneous tissue — the layer where cellulite forms. Better circulation means better nutrient delivery and waste removal in the treated areas.

  • 02

    Fluid Retention Reduction

Excess interstitial fluid amplifies the dimpled appearance. Manual massage helps mobilize this fluid toward the lymphatic system. Combining with Lymphatic Drainage Massage as a first session amplifies this effect.

  • 03

    Tissue Texture Improvement

Regular sessions improve the pliability and texture of the subcutaneous tissue. The effect is cumulative — a course of 6–10 sessions over several weeks produces more visible results than a single visit.

  • 04

    No Bruising, No Damage

Our technique uses only controlled manual work — deep kneading, skin rolling, sustained pressure. No slapping, no hitting, no machines. Properly performed anticellulite massage should leave the skin pink from increased circulation, not bruised from tissue damage.

  • 05

    Pairs With Lymphatic Drainage

For best results we recommend starting with 1–2 sessions of Lymphatic Drainage Massage to clear excess fluid, then transitioning to anticellulite massage on pre-prepared tissue. The combination is more effective than either treatment alone.

The Session — Stage by Stage

Every session begins with a brief consultation — we ask about your target areas, any previous anticellulite treatments, and skin sensitivity. The therapist will explain the technique and the expected sensations before starting.

Stage 1 — Oil application & warm-up effleurage. Massage oil is applied to the target areas. Light gliding strokes warm the skin and superficial tissue, preparing it for deeper work. This phase is gentle — the intensity builds gradually.

Stage 2 — Deep kneading (pétrissage). The main technique. The therapist captures, lifts, and squeezes the subcutaneous tissue — systematically working through the thighs (front, back, inner, outer), buttocks, and hips. The kneading is deep and rhythmic, working the tissue between the skin and the muscle layer. This is the intensive phase — you will feel it.

Stage 3 — Skin rolling. The therapist lifts a fold of skin and rolls it between the fingers and thumbs, moving progressively across the treatment area. This technique specifically targets the connective tissue attachments that create the dimpled texture. It feels intense but should not be painful.

Stage 4 — Knuckle and thumb pressure work. Sustained, circular pressure with knuckles and thumbs on areas of dense, fibrous tissue. Slower and more focused than kneading — working specific zones where the tissue is most resistant.

Stage 5 — Abdomen (if requested). Lighter, more careful technique on the abdomen — circular clockwise strokes following the direction of the colon, with gentle kneading. Only if the guest requests this area.

Stage 6 — Finishing effleurage. Light strokes to settle the tissue and circulation. The treated areas will feel warm and may appear pink — this is normal increased blood flow, not damage.

After the session — herbal tea, cold water, and guidance on hydration, movement, and session frequency.

Manual massage improves local blood and lymph circulation, reduces fluid retention, and can temporarily improve skin texture in treated areas. These effects are real and most guests notice visible improvement after a course of sessions. However, no massage permanently eliminates cellulite — cellulite is a structural feature of connective tissue architecture, not a condition that can be "cured." Regular sessions maintain the improvement; stopping the sessions means the effect gradually fades.

The work is intensive — deep kneading and skin rolling on the thighs and buttocks is not gentle, and you will feel it. But properly performed anticellulite massage should not cause bruising. If your previous experience left you covered in bruises, the technique was too aggressive. At Namm we use controlled manual pressure — no slapping, no hitting, no percussive techniques. The treated areas may appear pink afterward from increased circulation — this is normal and fades within hours.

A single session improves circulation and can reduce puffiness, but visible texture improvement requires a course. We recommend 6–10 sessions over 3–5 weeks for noticeable results, then maintenance sessions every 2–4 weeks. If you're in Phuket for a short stay, even 3–4 sessions during your trip will produce a visible difference — especially if combined with lymphatic drainage.

Our approach is manual technique only — the therapist's hands can feel the tissue response and adjust pressure in real time, which a machine cannot. Vacuum cups and suction devices can cause capillary damage and bruising when used aggressively. We believe controlled manual kneading and skin rolling deliver better results with less risk of tissue damage.

Yes — this is our recommended approach. Start with 1–2 sessions of Lymphatic Drainage Massage to clear excess fluid from the tissue. Then begin the anticellulite course on pre-drained, prepared tissue. The combination is more effective because anticellulite kneading works better on tissue that is not waterlogged with retained fluid.

The primary areas are thighs (front, back, inner, outer), buttocks, and hips — where cellulite most commonly develops. Abdomen can be included on request, with a lighter, adapted technique. The session focuses exclusively on these target areas — it is not a full-body massage.

Anticellulite massage is not recommended for: pregnancy, varicose veins in the treatment area, active skin infections or open wounds, recent surgery in the treatment area, blood clotting disorders or use of blood-thinning medication, and active inflammation or acute sunburn on the treatment areas. If you have any of these conditions, please inform us — we will recommend an alternative.

60 minutes — focused work on one primary area (thighs only, or buttocks and hips). Good for maintenance sessions. 90 minutes — covers thighs, buttocks, and hips thoroughly, the most popular choice. 120 minutes — full protocol including abdomen, extended work on all areas, and additional time on the most resistant zones.

Walk-in massage is welcome every day from 10:00 to 22:00. For a course of sessions, we recommend booking your full schedule via WhatsApp so we can reserve consistent time slots with the same therapist throughout your stay.

"Tried lymphatic at 3 different Phuket spas. Most are just oil massage with a different name. At Namm it's the actual technique. Face puffiness gone in one session."
