What Deep Foot & Legs Massage Is
Deep foot and legs massage is an intensive recovery protocol focused exclusively on the lower body — from the soles of the feet up to and including the thighs. Unlike our relax foot reflexology (which stops at the knee and stays light-to-firm), this session works deep into the calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, and adductors. It is designed for legs that have done real work — and need to recover for the next round.
The protocol follows the classical effleurage–petrissage–tapotement sequence validated in sports recovery research. We draw on the Biryukov sports massage methodology for the kneading-heavy main phase, combined with classical Vasichkin techniques for the joint work at ankles and knees. Pressure stays at your chosen level on a 5-level scale — deep, but never sharp.
The result is systematic release of the entire lower body — calves that loosen, hamstrings that recover, quadriceps that regain mobility. You will train again sooner.
What It Is Not
This is not a relaxation foot massage. If you want to fall asleep on the table, choose our Relax Foot Massage instead. Deep foot and legs work is intentional, focused, and you feel every minute of it — that is exactly what makes it effective.
It is also not a full body sport massage. Sport massage covers shoulders, back, arms, and legs in one dynamic flow. Deep foot and legs concentrates all 60, 90, or 120 minutes on one anatomical region — your legs — which is why the per-muscle-group depth is significantly greater.
And it is not painful. Pressure goes deep, you will feel the work, and trigger points may have a 5-10 second "ah, that's it" moment. But sharp pain or bruising means the technique is wrong. At Namm you can adjust the pressure level at any moment during the session.

01
After a Long Run or Race
Half-marathon, 10K, marathon, or just a long Sunday run. 1-4 hours after the finish is the ideal recovery window. Calves get the deepest work, hamstrings and quads released. You will train again sooner.
-
02
Swimmers & Triathletes
Open-water swimming sessions in Phuket leave the calves tight and hip flexors compressed. The protocol releases both, plus the often-neglected adductor chain. Standard recovery choice for our triathlete guests.
-
03
Long-Distance Hikers
Big Buddha hike, Khao Phra Thaeo jungle trek, multi-day Phang Nga expeditions. Quadriceps and calves take the entire load of downhill descent. Deep leg massage is the recovery that lets you hike again tomorrow.
-
04
Cyclists
Long road rides, mountain biking trails around Phuket — the quadriceps build up specific tension patterns. The protocol works the IT band area, vastus lateralis, and adductors that cyclists notice most.
-
05
Muay Thai Camp Guests
Repeated kicks build dense tension in the entire posterior chain. Daily training during a camp week destroys legs faster than anything. Deep leg work between training days is what keeps you in the camp instead of resting.

The Protocol — Foot to Thigh, Stage by Stage
You arrive in comfortable clothing — anything that can be raised above the knee. If your clothes don't allow access to the thighs, we provide loose shorts. You sit in a comfortable reclining chair, fully clothed from the waist up, and the therapist works from a stool in front of you.
Stage 1 — Warm foot wash. Hygiene and the first signal to the nervous system that the work has begun.
Stage 2 — Effleurage warm-up, foot to thigh. Long sweeping strokes along the entire leg, from the sole of the foot up to the top of the quadriceps. Wakes up the muscles, distributes oil, and starts to mobilize venous blood and lymph back toward the heart.
Stage 3 — Calf petrissage (kneading). Systematic kneading of the gastrocnemius and soleus — the two main calf muscles. This is where runners feel the deepest work.
Stage 4 — Hamstrings deep work. Posterior thigh muscles released with combined kneading and friction. The biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus all worked individually.
Stage 5 — Quadriceps protocol. Anterior thigh receives the same systematic treatment — vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, vastus medialis. Deep but never sharp.
Stage 6 — Adductors & IT band area. The often-neglected medial and outer thigh. Especially important for cyclists and Muay Thai trainees.
Stage 7 — Joint mobilization & finishing. Ankle and knee passive range-of-motion work, then light rhythmic tapping and calming strokes to close the session. Your legs feel lighter, looser, and properly recovered.

Foot reflexology focuses on the feet and lower legs with gentle to firm relaxation work. Deep foot and legs massage is intensive and goes further — feet, calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps all the way up to the thigh. The pressure is significantly deeper, and the focus is athletic recovery, not relaxation. Many guests fall asleep during reflexology; few fall asleep during this — you feel the work.
Runners (after a long run, half-marathon, or marathon), swimmers (especially after open-water sessions), long-distance hikers, cyclists, anyone who has just spent days walking around Phuket, Muay Thai camp guests during heavy training blocks, and anyone who wants intensive leg work rather than full-body recovery.
It is intensive but should not be painful. The work goes deep into the calf, hamstring, and quadriceps muscle layers — you will feel it, and you may notice trigger points releasing. A properly performed deep leg massage never causes bruising or sharp pain. At Namm you choose the pressure level on a 5-level scale and can adjust during the session at any moment.
60 minutes — focused recovery on feet, calves and one upper-leg muscle group (hamstrings OR quadriceps). 90 minutes — full leg protocol covering both posterior and anterior muscle chains. Most popular among runners and active travellers. 120 minutes — comprehensive recovery for marathon or ultra-distance athletes, includes extended trigger point work.
After. Deep tissue leg work before a long run can leave the muscles too relaxed for performance. The ideal window is 1 to 4 hours after a long run, ride, or hike. For pre-event preparation, choose our Sport Massage with preliminary protocol the morning of or 30 minutes before the event.
Light running is fine. Hard training or racing should wait 24 hours. The muscles need a recovery window to integrate the work. Hydrate well — 1 to 2 litres of water in the next 24 hours significantly enhances the recovery effect.
Seated in a comfortable reclining chair. This is the most ergonomic position for the therapist to reach all leg muscle groups from feet to thighs with proper pressure. You stay fully clothed from the waist up. We provide shorts if your clothing doesn't allow access above the knee.
Walk-in massage is welcome every day from 10:00 to 22:00. However, we recommend messaging us via WhatsApp at least a few hours ahead to guarantee your preferred time — especially after a Phuket race day or during peak season.
